About the project
A type 2 holiday house in an eco-village: an architectural project for a resort complex. The design draws on the ornamental tradition of local timber building and on the fairy-tale character of the region: timber, carved detail, a weathervane cut with figures from local folk tales. The house sleeps up to six: two bedrooms, a private sauna, a generous kitchen-living room, and a terrace with an open fireplace, a barbecue area and a wood-fired hot tub.

To develop the architectural design of a type 2 holiday house for an eco-village: comfortable, generous in size and at home in the local landscape.
Challenge
To create a house that echoes the historic local building tradition and at the same time meets contemporary standards for a country holiday: panoramic light, a private sauna, a covered terrace with a fireplace and a hot tub, all within a compact and efficient plan.
Concept
The architecture of the house reworks historic local building traditions: carved decoration, timber façades and a metal weathervane cut with figures from local folk tales give it a recognisable regional character. Panoramic windows open onto the pine forest and the water, and the terrace with its open fireplace, barbecue and wood-fired hot tub becomes the main setting for time spent outdoors.
Result
The house is roomy and easy to live in, where modern comfort meets a natural aesthetic. The kitchen-living room with its soft seating is the centre of the plan, two bedrooms take up to six guests, and the private sauna makes proper relaxation possible all year round. Carved detail, the weathervane and panoramic windows looking into the forest give the house its character and its link with local building traditions.

What is this holiday house project (type 2), and how big is it?
This is the second standard format for the eco-village, at 160 m²: larger than the first type and intended for a different kind of guest. We were responsible for the architecture and the façades of the house within the overall range of standard houses that we developed for the whole site.
How does the 160 m² house differ from the 98 m² type 1 house in the same settlement?
The difference is not only in floor area: the type 2 house is planned for more guests and a different way of staying at the resort, so its massing and the logic of the façades differ from the compact type 1. Both houses keep to the same eco-minimalism, so that the range reads as a single ensemble.
What is included in the architectural design of a house for an eco-village of this scale?
The 'architecture and façades' section covers the massing and planning of the building, the materials and construction of the façades, the roof, the windows and the glazing, and the way the house sits on the terrain of the plot. Interior design, design supervision and the selection of furnishings are done on separate request; they are not part of the architectural package by default.
