Interior design of an apartment, 180 m²
Apartment · 180 m² · Completed
About the project
A 180 m² apartment: a city interior for a couple who value quality, quiet and an unerring sense of proportion. Natural stone, architectural lighting, a private master suite and unobtrusive building services make a home for living without haste.
Client request
The clients had reached a new stage of life: the children had grown up, they already had a country house, and the city apartment was to become a place for themselves, for the people close to them and for long unhurried evenings. The interior had to move up a level: expressive but never showy, comfortable for everyday life and ready for entertaining.
Challenge
The main challenge was to coordinate many contractors and building services precisely within an architecturally clean space. Ventilation, air conditioning, humidification, a smart-home system, automated blinds, multi-room audio and backlit natural stone all had to follow one plan, so that the technology would work unseen and never compete with the interior.
Concept
The plan is split into living and private areas, and the study-guest room, with its own wardrobe and bathroom, works as an independent part of the apartment. The hall became the compositional centre: a stone panel, a handmade mirror with an églomisé finish and pivoting dividers change the perspective between the entrance and the living area. The palette is built on natural stone, veneer, leather, silk and textiles, with textures that reveal themselves gradually as the light and the viewer move.
Result
Five months of design and two years on site produced an interior outside passing fashion: calm, tactile and exact in its proportions. Luxury here is not announced through loud decoration; it comes from the quality of the work, the rare textures, the considered lighting and the sense that every square metre is genuinely lived in.

Entrance hall
The hall is conceived as a prologue in its own right. A floor panel in four kinds of natural stone and a handmade mirror as a wall-mounted art object make an intimate yet formal space. Four doors dissolve into the composition, so the eye reads a whole volume rather than a corridor.

Kitchen-living-dining room
The living area works as a contemporary salon: this is where the owners gather for dinner, listen to music, watch films and entertain friends. The kitchen hides the utilitarian behind architectural planes, and in the bay window the dining area with a large Italian table and a Terzani light fitting becomes the centre of the evening. Pivoting dividers adjust how open the hall and the kitchen are to each other.

Study-guest room
The study easily assumes two roles: a calm work space on weekdays and a full guest bedroom. Graphic furniture, deep wood tones and soft seating create a composed atmosphere without excessive formality.

Bathroom with shower
The bathroom next to the study is planned like the rest of the guest suite: compact, self-contained and finished in a carefully chosen set of materials. Warm light, stone and minimal fittings give it the feel of a private hotel room.

Guest room wardrobe
A separate wardrobe makes the study-guest room self-contained. Open sections, wood and integrated lighting organise storage without visual clutter.

Master bathroom
The master bathroom is built on a dialogue between light and stone. Illuminated onyx planes read as a natural pattern, and the bath, the double basin and the soft glow of the pendants turn a functional room into a private ritual.

Master walk-in wardrobe
The master walk-in wardrobe continues the private sequence of the bedroom. Warm veneer, the vertical rhythm of the fronts and soft lighting create a quiet, tactile room for getting dressed each day.

Bedroom
The bedroom is deliberately freed of anything surplus. A soft headboard, pale verticals, timber and textiles set the tone for rest, and a separate reading area is provided by the window. This is the quietest part of the apartment, with its own pace and privacy.

Frequently asked questions about the project
FAQ
Frequently asked questions about the project
How long did design and construction of the apartment take?
Design took 5 months and construction 2 years. That timeline made it possible to coordinate the architectural, building services, finishing and procurement work in detail.
What technologies are included in the 180 m² apartment?
The project integrates supply and extract ventilation, air conditioning, humidification, a smart-home system, automated blinds, layered lighting and multi-room audio.
How is the apartment's layout organised?
The apartment is split into living and private areas. The study-guest room has its own wardrobe and bathroom, and the master suite takes in the bedroom, walk-in wardrobe and bathroom.
Why did the hall become the main compositional space?
The hall shapes the first impression of the interior. A panel in four kinds of natural stone, a mirror with an églomisé finish and pivoting dividers turn the entrance into a formal space in its own right and at the same time link it to the kitchen-living-dining room.
Can the study-guest room be used as an independent space?
Yes. The study-guest room has its own wardrobe and bathroom with shower, so it suits both work and longer stays by guests without intruding on the owners' private area.
What materials define the interior's character?
The basis is natural stone, wood veneer, thick leather, an églomisé mirror, silk and natural textiles. The materials were chosen not to make a show but for depth, tactility and a calm reading of the space.
