About the project
An interior textile showroom for VIONA: 86 m² of light and spare forms. A mirrored wall and a panoramic window dissolve the boundaries of the room, and a ceiling light made of gilded petals sets the tone for the whole space. Open shelving displays the fabrics so that choosing a material becomes part of the experience of the brand.
Client request
A textile showroom always has to be two things at once: a display and a working space. Visitors need to take in the overall look of the interior and then choose a fabric calmly and in detail. The brand has to signal its quality through light and materials without turning the room into a stockroom of samples.
Challenge
The main difficulty with this type of space is the sheer volume of stock: rolls of fabric, catalogues and accessories must stay within reach without overloading the interior. Lighting here works for function as much as for atmosphere, because it decides how accurately a client sees the colour and texture of a fabric before buying.
Concept
The VIONA showroom is contemporary, with touches of understated luxury. A mirrored wall and a large panoramic window with sheer curtains fill the space with light and make it feel open and welcoming. The scheme rests on spare forms, a refined palette and carefully chosen decorative accents. At the centre of the room stands a large oval table surrounded by armchairs upholstered in deep blue and soft cream, which bring colour and elegance to the space. The ceiling light is an art object in its own right: a fixture of gilded petals makes the interior distinctive and assured.
Result
Open shelving and stands display the range of fabrics and accessories clearly, making selection easier and giving the room its rhythm. Contemporary geometric elements on the walls, together with the colour and textile choices, show the attention to detail behind the scheme. The showroom draws clients into the creative process and feels both inspiring and professional.

Sales floor
The sales floor is laid out as a single route for choosing fabrics: open shelving and stands with samples by the entrance, and at the centre a large oval table where fabrics are considered alongside upholstery and decor. Perimeter lighting and the mirrored wall keep colours accurate even at the back of the room. Geometric black-and-white panels keep the background graphic without competing with the textiles on display.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions about the project
How much does showroom interior design cost?
We prepare the cost estimate after the brief and the measured survey: it depends on the floor area, the amount of retail fittings and how complex the lighting scheme is. VIONA is a compact single-room format of 86 m², so the design work is smaller in scope than for a salon with several rooms, although the lighting section was developed in more detail than usual.
How do you store samples in a textile showroom without it turning into a warehouse?
The main difficulty with this type of space is the volume of stock: rolls, catalogues and accessories must stay within reach without overloading the interior. At VIONA the fabrics sit on open shelving around the perimeter, leaving the centre of the room free for a large oval table. Fabrics are chosen at the table, not in the aisle between the stands.
What sort of lighting does a textile showroom need?
Lighting here works for function as much as for atmosphere: it decides how accurately a client sees the colour and texture of a fabric before buying. The room therefore combines daylight from the panoramic window, general overhead light and local light in the selection area. Get the colour temperature wrong and the fabric looks different at home from how it looked in the showroom.
Why does a textile showroom need a mirrored wall?
The mirrored wall and the panoramic window together dissolve the boundaries of the room: 86 m² stops reading as a closed box. The mirror also doubles the daylight and lets a client see a fabric in reflection from a distance, which shows how the material will look in a room rather than in the hand.
What does a turnkey showroom design project include?
A layout with the retail fittings positioned, wall elevations, a lighting plan with the scenarios calculated, finish and furniture schedules, and details for the non-standard elements. For a retail space we also work through the visitor's route: where they stop, where they unroll a fabric, where they decide.
How long does it take to design an 86 m² showroom?
For a retail space of this size, the design documentation takes between one and a half and two and a half months, depending on how many non-standard elements go into production. At VIONA these were the shelving and the ceiling light of gilded petals, and their junction details were worked out separately.
