About the project

A 198 m² apartment in the city centre with views of the riverside, shaped around the character and taste of its owner. Large windows, high ceilings and abundant daylight set the tone for the whole interior. The plan takes in a generous entrance hall, a combined kitchen-living room with a lounge area, two bedrooms with their own bathrooms and a walk-through wardrobe.

Client request

The client, a young man with a strong aesthetic sense, wanted a city-centre apartment that would reflect his character directly: contemporary, expressive and entirely personal. The brief called for panoramic views of the riverside, as much daylight as possible and full zoning across 198 m², from a private bedroom zone to space for entertaining guests. Every square metre was to be used, including a large terrace as part of everyday living.

Challenge

The main planning challenge was to bring the large insulated terrace into the living space. Once it was joined to the apartment, we moved the dining area and the lounge onto it, which freed up space in the living room and gave the bedroom its own way out onto the terrace, with a view over the city.

Concept

The concept rests on a dialogue between natural materials and a restrained palette with pinpoint accents of colour. Marble and timber recur throughout the interior, from the entrance hall floor to the kitchen splashback and the details of the bathrooms. A neutral grey-beige background is brought to life by accents: a saturated blue in the master bedroom, pink in the kitchen and the guest bathroom, green in the master bathroom. Glass partitions and panoramic glazing carry daylight deep into the apartment and make it feel larger.

Result

The 198 m² apartment overlooking the riverside came together as one coherent, light-filled space. Bringing in the terrace widened both the living room and the bedroom, and the dining and lounge areas gained a panoramic view of the city. Marble, warm timber and graphite make a restrained base, while livelier accents such as the pink kitchen island reflect the owner's character. Two bedrooms with their own bathrooms and a walk-through wardrobe complete a well-considered plan for everyday life in the apartment.

Kitchen

The kitchen is built around its most recognisable accent: an island with deep pink cabinetry set against a dark marble splashback. A decorative arrangement on the marble worktop continues the island's pink palette.

The dining area by the panoramic window is set apart as a space of its own: a black marble table, graphite velvet chairs and an abstract wall piece create an intimate setting for family meals.

05 Zone

Living room

The living room opens onto the kitchen as one space: a deep blue modular sofa, a graphite television wall and a terracotta woven chair give several ways to relax within the same area. Panoramic windows over the city and the river extend the sense of space.

The insulated terrace has become a full extension of the apartment: woven furniture, a suspended cocoon chair and panoramic glazing turn it into a summer living room with city views.

Walk-in wardrobe

The walk-through wardrobe links the master bedroom to the rest of the apartment: mirrored fronts make the narrow corridor feel wider, and closed storage keeps the space tidy.

08 Zone

Master bedroom

The master bedroom is kept to a restrained palette with a saturated blue accent on the headboard. Greenery beyond the glass partition carries on the theme of natural materials set throughout the apartment.

The guest bedroom was given a warm mustard wall and a glazed bathroom of its own, so that the privacy of guests does not break the unity of light across the apartment.
