Design project for a minimalist house, 71 m²

House · 71 m² · Concept

About the project

A contemporary minimalist house of 71 m², developed by the studio as a standard type for a residential developer. It rests on clean lines, neutral shades and the function of every element. A generous kitchen-living room combines style with convenience, the bedroom is held in calm tones, and the children's room carries the bright accents. A considered choice for anyone who values both style and comfort.

Client request

The developer of a residential settlement commissioned a range of standard, repeatable interior design projects, the solutions buyers choose when they order a house in a particular format. The 71 m² house needed a minimalist scenario: a selection of materials and furniture to suit the budget and the needs of a small family, with a considered use of every square metre.

Challenge

To fit a family's whole way of life into 71 m² without any sense of cramped space: to place the kitchen-living room, the bedroom, the children's room and the bathroom so that each area has room to breathe, while the neutral base stays open to the tastes of the future owners.

Concept

The base is clean lines, a neutral palette and honest materials: porcelain tile, matt fronts, pale timber. Minimalism here is not about emptiness but about order and light: built-in furniture with concealed handles, as much daylight as possible, and careful accents that bring the space to life without overloading it.

Result

A calm, bright and functional interior where the kitchen-living room becomes the heart of the home, the bedroom a place for quiet, and the children's room an area for play and study. A ready standard scheme for furnishing the house and for an early start to sales in the settlement.

01

Entrance hall

The minimalist entrance hall is simple and elegant. The emphasis falls on natural materials and on function. Pale walls and a porcelain tile floor give a sense of space and cleanliness. A door with a vertical glass insert lets daylight through and makes the space read larger. Built-in furniture with smooth fronts and concealed handles keeps the interior clear, and branches in a vase complete the welcome.

02

Kitchen-living room

The combined kitchen, dining and living space feels both generous and comfortable, thanks to the mix of clean lines and warm shades. The kitchen, with matt grey fronts and integrated appliances, is practical and good to look at. The dining area, with a round table and pale timber chairs, is where the family eats, while the sofa and armchair in the living room are for resting. Large windows fill the whole area with daylight.

03

Bedroom

The bedroom gives an impression of complete comfort and quiet through soft textures and muted tones. Greys and whites together make the room peaceful. A large bed with a soft headboard invites rest, and bedside tables and well-chosen lamps add elegance. Pale curtains let a gentle light through and keep the space airy.

04

Children's room

The children's room is built around accent pieces that encourage a child's creativity. Bright details such as red furniture and art on the wall give the room life and energy. Large windows fill it with light. The furniture is all functional: a desk, shelving for storage, a bed with a comfortable headboard and a good chair make one interior that serves study and rest alike.

Bathroom

The bathroom is quietly elegant, with clean lines throughout. Large neutral tiles keep the atmosphere calm. A floating unit with a rectangular basin lightens the room, while a wall-hung WC and a bath behind a clear glass screen make it comfortable to use. Black taps and fittings add a contemporary note, and a small window fills the space with light.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the project

How much does the design project for a 71 m² minimalist house cost?

A compact 71 m² house with five areas, the entrance hall, the kitchen and living room, the bedroom, the children’s room and the bathroom, usually costs less to design than a house of the same size with more rooms. ARTEVRIKA gives the exact figure after the brief and the measured survey.

How long does it take to design a 71 m² house?

For a floor area like this we allow about two months: a compact house with five areas is designed faster than one of 250–300 m². Here that made it possible to keep to a tight programme before the build without losing the detail.

How does minimalism work in a small 71 m² house?

On a small floor area minimalism earns its keep: built-in storage and the refusal of surplus furniture physically free up the room. In this house the kitchen and living room were combined into one volume for exactly that reason.

Can a children’s room and a bedroom fit into a 71 m² house?

Yes. With sensible zoning both rooms fit without feeling cramped, as here, where the bedroom and the children’s room sit on either side of the shared kitchen and living area. A compact house calls for a more exact reckoning of every square metre, not for more space.

Does a compact house suit a plot outside the city?

Yes, 71 m² is a common size for summer houses and smaller residential settlements. A house of this format covers what a family of three or four needs, with no surplus square metres to look after.

Is design supervision required during construction of a small house?

On a compact building the risks are lower than on a large house, but supervision still settles questions on site, particularly around the built-in furniture that minimalism relies on. ARTEVRIKA adds it on separate request, apart from the design project itself.
