About the project
A 152 m² apartment: an interior design project for a family with two children, contemporary and elegant, weighing the cost of the materials against their quality. A carefully judged palette and considered decoration give the space a coherent, harmonious feel.
Client request
Design a 152 m² apartment for a family with two children: contemporary, elegant and sensible about the balance of price and quality in the materials. Every member of the family had to have a proper room of their own: a master bedroom with its own bathroom, two children's rooms with different purposes, one for rest and one for study, a guest bathroom and a generous utility room.
Challenge
Find the balance between an upmarket impression and a considered budget: build the image of an expensive apartment out of carefully chosen rather than costly materials, and think through the scenarios of a family with two children. A separate task was to work a personal and important element into a contemporary interior with tact: a corner for icons that turns neither into an archaic detail nor into a chance accessory.
Concept
Contemporary elegance in a warm palette: light greige walls, brass, large-format porcelain with a marble texture and dark timber. Floor-to-ceiling doors and considered multi-level lighting give the rooms air and mark the standing of the interior. The public part, entrance hall, living room and kitchen-dining, is organised around a run of glass partitions; the private part with the master bedroom and the children's rooms takes calmer, more intimate shades.
Result
A coherent contemporary interior emerged where elegance and comfort coexist with practicality. A light palette opens the space up, natural textures and brass accents lend refinement, and the storage and the zoning work for the family. Each member of the family has a considered place of their own: from the master bedroom with its icon niche to two children's rooms of quite different character and a generous utility room with space for every appliance.

Zones of the project “Design project for an apartment, 152 m²”
01 Zone
Entrance hall
The entrance hall speaks of refinement. The floor-to-ceiling doors look particularly elegant and give the space air and lightness. The layout is worked out for convenience and function, and puts contemporary elements alongside classical elegance. The colour palette is light and warm, which opens the space up visually. Natural materials, large-format porcelain with a marble texture on the floor and timber elements, give the entrance hall a note of opulence. The lighting is carefully planned to make the hall as welcoming as possible and at the same time to bring out the design.
The dressing area of this apartment is thought through in the smallest detail, for ease of use as much as for pleasure. Glass doors add lightness and a sense of space and make it quick to see what is there. The shelves and cabinets inside are arranged to get the most out of the storage without losing reach or convenience. The finishes are neutral and the materials are of high quality, which gives a sense of comfort and of things well made. Lighting inside the dressing room supplies enough light to keep it usable at any hour.

02 Zone
Living room
The living room, like the apartment as a whole, is contemporary, refined and comfortable. The space is finished in a light palette with accents of natural materials, which makes it feel warm. Upholstered furniture with plush cushions and a throw invites you to relax, and a handsome coffee table becomes the centre around which the room is arranged. Lighting had particular attention: elegant fittings around the perimeter of the room give a soft, diffused light that completes the idea of the room. Refined decorative pieces, paintings and vases of plants, give the interior a finished and harmonious look.

03 Zone
Kitchen-dining room
Through a sliding glass partition we come into the kitchen-dining area. This room too is contemporary, with a refined aesthetic, and it holds function and style together. Handsome light fittings bring out the design of the room and add warmth. Soft armchairs and the dining table make eating and sitting on afterwards comfortable. Natural materials and a warm palette make the room pleasant, and considered lighting keeps it fresh and welcoming. The kitchen units are contemporary, with smooth fronts and built-in appliances, which makes cooking simpler and more enjoyable.

04 Zone
Master bedroom
The master bedroom is built for rest. The bed has a soft headboard the full width of the frame, and a restrained range of warm grey-green and beige underlines the calm, intimate character of the room. At the foot of the bed stands a low bench, and bedside tables with brass inlays and marble tops carry on the material language of the whole apartment.
One of the most expressive elements of the interior is the icon corner, arranged with particular care. Built-in shelves hold the icons and follow the same language as the rest of the room. Accent lighting picks them out and gives the corner weight of its own, a quiet warmth that the room keeps even when the lights are down.
Opposite the bed is a wardrobe wall with linen-look facades and glossy black accents, concealing the television and storage systems. Multi-level lighting — an eye-catching ceiling fixture with glass shades, wall sconces at the headboard and accent lighting of niches — allows the lighting scheme to shift from functional to relaxing for the evening.

05 Zone
Master bathroom
The master bathroom is contemporary, with the emphasis on function and on how it looks. Every element is worked out for comfort. Handsome sanitaryware and contemporary furniture add refinement. Materials had particular attention: porcelain with the look of natural stone and high-quality ceramics carry the finishes. The complex wall shades, together with considered lighting, make the room comfortable and elegant. It holds practicality and current thinking in interior design together in one welcoming space.

06 Zone
Children's room
This children's room was designed with current thinking in interior design in mind, and aimed at the most comfortable and functional space possible. The room is done in a neutral range, which helps make the atmosphere calm and settled. It is furnished with convenient, practical pieces that leave room for rest, study and play. Refined light fittings and decorative elements make the room warm. The accent here is a set of unusual minimalist light fittings that pick up the style of the apartment as a whole. The study area had particular attention, so that learning and growing up go well. The result is a room that is harmonious and comfortable, and that works for the child.

07 Zone
Children's room 2
The second children's room is designed for an older child, with the emphasis on function and comfort, and it suits study as well as growing up. It is done in warm, neutral tones with good materials, which makes it a pleasant place to rest and to work. The lighting is thought through in detail: contemporary fittings give a bright but soft light that suits study and relaxation alike. The desk area is carefully arranged so that the child is comfortable working. Clever storage helps keep the room tidy.
In this children's room we used one piece of furniture that brings minimalism and function together. The wardrobe next to the bed is the clearest example. Its design is pared back, with clean lines, in keeping with the minimalist idea of the interior. Beyond how it looks, it also stores a good deal. Inside there are open shelves for books and decorative pieces, turned away from the main part of the room and towards the bed, and closed sections for larger and more personal things. The piece keeps the room in order and leaves it feeling open and organised.

08 Zone
Guest bathroom
The guest WC follows the same contemporary, minimalist line. The interior is neutral, which gives the room a sense of space and freshness. Walls and floor are lined with good ceramic tiles with the look of marble and concrete, which holds the style together and makes the room work better. The lighting is carefully planned: recessed fittings give an even light and a warm atmosphere. The furniture and sanitaryware are contemporary and minimal, in keeping with the idea of the room.

09 Zone
Utility room
The utility room was designed for function and convenience. We deliberately gave it a window, so it has daylight and feels fresh. The room holds a washing machine and a dryer, a steam cabinet for delicate garments and a separate sink for hand washing. Open shelves for towels and linen sit next to closed cupboards for household supplies and cleaning products, and a shoe unit by the door keeps the whole family's footwear in order. A ceiling drying rack by the window and a well-planned storage system make the room genuinely useful, and it is still tidy and considered in colour, in the same neutral palette as the rest of the apartment.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions about the project
FAQ
Frequently asked questions about the project
What was the brief for the 152 m² apartment in a club house?
The 152 m² apartment in a club house was designed in 2022 for a family with two children. The clients wanted an interior that looks expensive without relying on extravagantly priced solutions, so the materials were chosen on the strength of the studio's experience. Another condition was to find a worthy place for objects of particular importance to the family. Design took 4 months.
How was the 152 m² apartment divided into shared and private areas?
The layout was reconfigured to divide the apartment into a shared part and a private one. The shared part takes in the entrance hall, the living room and the kitchen-dining room; a sliding glass partition separates the kitchen from the living room, so the space stays open and bright from end to end. The master bedroom and two children's rooms form the private part, where the shades are calmer and softer. Ceiling-height doors and pale greige walls connect the two halves.
How do you fit an icon corner into a contemporary master bedroom?
Icons matter a great deal to the clients, and they could not be reduced to either an archaic detail or a random accessory. They were given a niche with built-in shelves and its own lighting, finished in the same materials as the rest of the room. The bedroom is in warm grey-green and beige tones, the bedside tables have brass inserts and marble tops, and the icon corner reads as a natural part of the interior.
How do the two children's rooms in the 152 m² apartment differ?
The children's rooms are designed for children of different ages. The first has a neutral palette with minimalist lights and a dedicated workspace. The second, for the older child, is in warm tones. A wardrobe stands next to the bed: its open shelves for books face the bed, and the closed sections hold larger and personal belongings.
How is the utility room with a window laid out in this apartment?
A room with a window was set aside specifically as the utility room, and a ceiling-mounted clothes airer was placed next to the window. Besides the washing machine and dryer, there is a steam cabinet for delicate garments and a separate sink for hand washing. Towels and linen sit on open shelves, cleaning products are kept in closed cupboards, and a shoe cabinet for the whole family stands by the entrance.
